Charli XCX came to the defense of Taylor Swift after fans allegedly disparaged the pop superstar at a recent concert.
The Indexbit ExchangeBritish pop singer, who opened for Swift on the 2018 Reputation Stadium Tour, reportedly responded to footage of her Saturday concert in São Paulo, Brazil, in which fans could be heard chanting, "A Taylor Morreu," which loosely translates to, "Taylor is dead." Fans also chanted the same message at a release party for Charli’s latest album "Brat" on June 7, X user @ritsuppy claims in the video.
"Hey @charli_xcx, your Brazilian fans have been showing toxic behavior by screaming 'Taylor is dead!' in your concerts and events related to you," the X user wrote. "Could you do something about it? We don’t believe that’s what music should be about."
The "Von Dutch" singer took to her Instagram Story on Sunday to address the video and condemn fans for the disparaging remark about Swift.
"Can the people who do this please stop? Online or at my shows," Charli wrote in the since-expired post, according to Deadline and Today.com. "It is the opposite of what I want, and it disturbs me that anyone would think there is room for this in this community. I will not tolerate it."

Charli's comments follow recent speculation of a pop music feud between her and Swift. Earlier this month, Swift released U.K. deluxe editions of her album "The Tortured Poets Department," which some fans alleged was a business tactic to block Charli's album "Brat" from taking the No. 1 spot from Swift on the U.K. albums chart.
This isn't the first time Charli has spoken out in support of Swift.

Charli XCX clarifies she is 'extremely grateful' for opening slot on Taylor Swift's concert tour
In August 2019, Charli reflected on touring with Swift as an opening act on the Reputation Stadium Tour in an interview with Pitchfork.
"I'm really grateful that (Taylor) asked me on that tour," Charli told the outlet at the time. "But as an artist, it kind of felt like I was getting up onstage and waving to 5-year-olds."
The "Boom Clap" singer later took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to clarify her comments after she claimed "people on the Internet have taken something I said out of context."
"As I say in the article and have said many times before, I am extremely grateful to Taylor for inviting me to open for her," Charli wrote. "She's one of the biggest artists of my generation, and the Reputation tour was one of the biggest tours in history."

Charli added that the "weird sentence" that sparked controversy was part of a wider conversation about her struggle to adjust to opening shows at 6 p.m. when she normally performed late-night gigs.
"Leading up to that tour I’d been playing a (ton) of 18+ club shows, and so to be onstage in front of all ages was new to me and made me approach my performances with a whole new kind of energy," she wrote.
